The Northeast Conference Council of Presidents announced plans last Thursday for a regular season and championship format during the Spring 2021 semester, improving the chance of Division I college soccer returning after the winter break.
NEC men’s and women’s teams would play round-robin games against conference opponents from late February through early April, as followed by a championship game between the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds to determine the NEC’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament.
The NCAA previously approved fall sports (like soccer) competing between Feb. 3 and April 17, while a national tournament at 75 percent capacity also awaits.
