Should Division I teams across New England compete during the Spring 2021 semester, they could receive a roster boost.
The DI Council announced Thursday that it's adopted emergency legislation to allow some mid-year enrollees to compete, rendering null and void a previous decision that prohibited participation from those joining a program for the second semester.
Before the vote, several coaches around the region told New England Soccer Journal they were confident that the legislation would be passed as the roster impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic came into view. Originally crafted with football in mind, it manifested quite differently for soccer.
