As colleges across Massachusetts cancel fall sports altogether due to the COVID-19 pandemic, youth soccer in the commonwealth had the breaks pumped Monday.
The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs released multi-tiered guidelines for youth sports as part of Phase 3, Step 1, curbing hopes for summertime soccer.
Soccer was lumped into the “Higher Risk” category, meaning only individual or socially-distanced group activities are allowed for now.
