Amherst men’s soccer, aside from forward Dane Lind and midfielder Cutler Coleman, didn’t have many serious losses from its 2019 team that lost the national final against Tufts.
Layer in another strong recruiting class and the return of forward German Giammattei, the reigning Division III National Player of the Year, and the Mammoths were primed for another run.
But that anticipation won’t play out in 2020, because on Wednesday Amherst became the third NESCAC school – Bowdoin and Williams are the others – to cancel fall sports on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.
