The annual United Soccer Coaches High School All-Region Teams have been released, and 56 girls players from New England made the cut.
Connecticut led the way with 20 players, while Massachusetts was second with 18 players. Maine had seven players, New Hampshire had six players, Vermont had three players and Rhode Island had two players.
The team leaned heavily on midfielders and forwards, since these exercises almost always favor attack-minded players. There were goalkeepers and defenders as well, but those two positions combined for just 11 spots (almost 20%). Forty-two of the players were seniors, while 12 were juniors and two were sophomores.
