Tyler Freitas (North Attleboro, Mass.) was set to be one of New England’s top, young college soccer players to watch this fall, but those plans have taken a turn.
Freitas, the New England Revolution Academy’s 2019 Player of the Year, will no longer play for the University of Vermont, according to multiple sources.
Rather than suiting up for the America East program, the outside back is pursuing professional soccer opportunities. The same sources indicated that could be in Europe – Freitas holds Portuguese citizenship – or in MLS with the Revs. At 19, he wouldn't need the European passport to play overseas.
