Sam Mewis (Hanson, Mass.) is officially back in the NWSL after a season-long stay with Manchester City in the FA Women’s Super League.
It was announced Monday that the U.S. women’s national team midfielder has returned to the North Carolina Courage for the 2021 campaign, signing a two-year contract that’ll last through 2023.
Mewis, the 2020 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, previously spent 2017-20 with North Carolina and won two straight NWSL titles (2018-19 ). Her previous Courage stint also included three consecutive NWSL Shields (2017-19).
