The advent of the girls’ Development Academy for 2017-18 has opened up new doors for aspiring college soccer players, serving as an alternative “elite” pathway.
Cat Barry, a Boston Breakers U-19 forward, is one player who’s set to benefit greatly from the DA, joining on with the National Women’s Soccer League affiliated side after a sterling high school season at Tabor Academy.
Barry, who’s committed to South Carolina, scored 10 goals in three games at the Winter Showcase. Then at Tabor, the sophomore finished as the Independent School League’s top scorer with 25 goals and 18 assists, helping the Seawolves to a semifinal spot in the NEPSAC Class B playoffs.
To learn more about Barry’s background and future, we caught up with her to chat all things soccer.
