Weeks of seismic changes in U.S. youth soccer continued Thursday when NEFC was announced as the Boys ECNL’s latest Northeast Conference member.
The third-year league, which has grown in profile and mirrors its decade-old girls counterpart, will house NEFC’s top teams in the U-13 through U-19 age groups. Based out of Mendon, Mass., NEFC has over 1,500 boys players and has established itself as one of the region’s top National Premier League clubs.
As for why the decision made sense, boys director of coaching Christian Battaglia outlined several reasons, starting with providing a college recruiting platform.
