On Tuesday, the newly formed Vermont Green Football Club announced it has signed Adam Pfeifer to be head coach and sporting director for the club’s inaugural season as part of USL League 2 in 2022.
Pfeifer, who is also the head men’s coach at Division 3 Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., will begin his coaching duties immediately for Vermont Green FC. He says those duties will not interfere with his role at Norwich and he’s excited to get started in this new opportunity.
"The interest was mutual. I’ve been up in Vermont for seven years now, and, for me, I played on the Cape for the Crusaders (2002 and 2003) and I had a really good experience seeing the USL2/PDL 2 thing done in the right way, in terms of having a really top quality training environment and housing for the kids," Pfeifer told the New England Soccer Journal. "I just really had a wonderful experience. Having been up in Vermont, I always thought that Burlington would be the perfect place to have a USL 2 team. Socially, it’s great for college kids in the summer, but there’s also a real soccer culture here in Vermont that not many people know about."
