
There's perhaps no greater honor in soccer than representing your national team.
At the senior level, local defenders Geoff Cameron (Attleboro, Mass.) and Michael Parkhurst (Cranston, R.I.) have both done so extensively on the men's side. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher (Bridgeport, Conn.) and midfielder Samantha Mewis (Hanson, Mass.) are likely to feature for the U.S. at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.
So who could follow in their footsteps?
While youth national team experience doesn't guarantee progression onto the senior level, the below 14 players are on promising tracks. Others could break into the fold in coming months, but these dozen-plus players could represent the next generation of locals wearing the red, white and blue.
