What’s really behind Christian Pulisic’s move to Chelsea?

Christian Pulisic kicked up the stakes for U.S. players in the transfer market when he moved to Chelsea FC for $73 million last week. But this deal is more about Pulisic’s potential marketing value than whether he will make a difference to Chelsea’s fortunes in the Premier League.

In fact, Chelsea is hardly concerned about the 20-year-old midfielder making an impression on the playing field. The Blues believe Pulisic will be a drawing card and provide inroads to the U.S. market, according to a source close to the negotiations.

However, there is a catch or two.
