Maine high school soccer's Class of 2020 is one of the strongest in recent memory, with many bound for Division I programs.
To name a small handful: Center back Max Murray (Kennebunk, Maine) is going to Vermont, midfielder Andrew Rent (Gorham, Mass.) is going to Boston University, midfielder Aidan Melville (Cumberland Foreside, Maine) is going to Providence and forward Bilal Hersi (Lewiston, Maine) is going to Siena. Further, midfielder Alejandro Coury (Yarmouth, Maine) is taking a postgraduate year at Worcester Academy.
Now, their departure creates a window of opportunity for others to lead Maine's high school scene. It's a tall order, as programs such as Falmouth, Lewiston, Waynflete and Yarmouth look to remain as pacesetters.
So, here's our look at 10 up-and-coming high school players in Maine. Many also compete for Seacoast United or GPS Maine, and our previous high school boys watch lists can be found here: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
