The COVID-19 pandemic continues to reshape the nationwide youth soccer landscape, with US Club Soccer cancelling four marquee events later this summer at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park in Colorado.
In a letter penned Tuesday, CEO/Executive Director Kevin Payne cited concerns over travel and health, knowing how difficult it’d be for teams to attend. At the moment, federal guidelines recommend avoiding gatherings of 10 people or more and practicing social distancing by keeping six feet between individuals.
“In conversations with leagues across the country, we believe many will be able to complete their spring seasons,” Payne wrote. “Of course, we also recognize that even after restrictions on assembly are lifted, many people will not be eager to travel long distances, especially by air."
