The annual United Soccer Coaches High School All-Region Teams have been released, and 56 boys players from New England made the cut.
Connecticut led the way with 22 players, while Massachusetts was second with 14 players. New Hampshire and Maine both had six players, Rhode Island had five players and Vermont brought up the rear with three players.
The team leaned heavily on midfielders and forwards, since these exercises almost always favor attack-minded players. There were goalkeepers and defenders as well, but those two positions combined for just 11 spots (almost 20%). Fifty of the players were seniors, while six were juniors.
