If life had gone originally to plan, Tyler Freitas (North Attleboro, Mass.) would soon be returning to the University of Vermont to begin the second semester of his freshman year.
Perhaps, based on his background as the New England Revolution Academy’s 2019 Player of the Year, the outside back would be coming off an All-America East campaign.
Instead, alongside his older brother, Justin, Freitas will soon return to Madrid for the second half of AD Colmenar Viejo’s 2019-20 season in the lower tiers of Spanish professional soccer. The 19-year-old reflected on his decision to bypass college and pursue his dream overseas, helped along by holding a Portuguese passport.
