If this past summer taught New England’s college soccer community anything, it’s that plans can change rather quickly.
Conferences across all three divisions announced plans as schools determined how they’d return to campus amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Those often involved intentions for men’s and women’s soccer to compete during the Fall 2020 semester, but school presidents ultimately erred on the side of caution.
Only one of New England's 45 Division I teams (Boston College women) ended up competing, while none of the region's Division II and Division III teams did. Decisions emerged from late June through early September, but the end result always seemed inevitable.
