There are six national championship trophies handed out each year in college soccer. This fall, half of those will return to New England.
On Saturday afternoon, Tufts captured the Div. 3 men's title, 2-1, over Calvin (Mich.); Williams downed Middlebury in penalty kicks (3-2) after a 1-1 draw Saturday night to secure the Div. 3 women's crown; and Bridgeport won the Div. 2 women's title on Sunday, 1-0 over Grand Valley State University.
It's an incredible haul for a region that, except for Div. 1 teams, tends to thrive nationally, particularly when it comes to Div. 3 and the NESCAC.
