Skills video: Suffolk Goalkeeper Session

By Phil TaitDecember 1, 2017

We’ve showcased a series of goalkeeper drills with the Suffolk University men’s goalkeepers, utilizing a wet tarp surface, which is a fantastic training tool for working on reactions with both goalkeepers and outfield players.

These drills work to improve agility, reflexes, anticipation, shot-stopping, diving, throwing and dealing with crosses/high balls.

We run through these drill variations:

  • Warmup (reaction diving)
  • Warmup (flick/punch/save)
  • Warmup (180 spin and save)
  • Wet tarp reactions: Shot-stopping from overarm throw
  • Wet tarp reactions: Dealing with a crossed ball and shot-stopping from overarm throw
