New Hampshire carried high hopes heading into its fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance, but the three-time defending America East champion's run was short-lived in 2021.

The Wildcats (8W-1L-1D) lost 2-0 Sunday afternoon against Kentucky in a battle of nationally-ranked teams, cutting short the program's trip to North Carolina for the Division I dance.

Head coach Marc Hubbard’s team always faced long odds, though, with three starters not even making the trip due to COVID-19 tracing protocols and then sophomore Oneil Smith-Elias getting shown a red card in the 14th minute. One too many obstacles arose in the second-round match.
