At the core, Ruben Resendes (Fall River, Mass.) is a product of New England soccer.
Growing up, he played club for Nor'Easter SC, Bayside FC and the inaugural New England Revolution Academy team. His playing days continued at Southern New Hampshire (Division 2), where he was a four-year starter. On the coaching front, initial stops came at Emmanuel (Division 3), the Revs Academy and SNHU.
Resendes, then 23, became head coach at Dean College for two years and transitioned to being the lead assistant at Vermont (Division 1), establishing a reputation as one of the region's top recruiters.
Now 27, Resendes has taken over as head coach at Franklin Pierce (Division 2), returning to his Northeast Conference roots. It's been quite the rise.
