The U.S. Soccer Development Academy is entering a new era, shifting to U-13, U-14, U-15, U-17 and U-19 age groups. Similarly, New England Soccer Journal is moving into new territory, covering academy soccer in the region like never before.
To kick off our coverage, we’re taking a look at the New England Revolution, the sole Major League Soccer academy for our six states.
The Revs, in years past, have moved midfielders Diego Fagundez (Leominster, Mass.), Scott Caldwell (Braintree, Mass.) and Zach Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) onto the first team, with academy director Bryan Scales stressing in several one-on-one conversations that their next Homegrown Player is about getting it right, not en masse.
