It was a memorable Saturday night for Damian Rivera.
The 19-year-old Cranston, R.I. native and New England Revolution Homegrown Player scored his first career MLS goal in the first minute of his first MLS start, becoming the third player in league history to do so.
His efforts helped the Revs defeat Inter Miami CF, 2-0, at Gillette Stadium in front of a crowd of 25,509.
In the opening minute, Matt Polster intercepted an errant Miami pass and found Carles Gil at the top of the box, who served the ball to Rivera, who netted his first MLS goal with a left-footed shot past Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman to put New England ahead early.
