Garrett Smith had a strong senior season at Gorham (Maine) High School in the fall of 2020.
But the 6-foot-2 goalkeeper felt the best way to maximize his soccer future at the collegiate level was to take a post graduate year at Bridgton Academy in 2021-22.
That decision proved to be a smart one for Smith, who last fall helped Bridgton to a 12-8-2 record and a trip to the NEPSAC Class A playoffs. Meanwhile, he further solidified his name on the Division 1 college radar.
Smith recently earned the fruits of that labor by committing to D1 Bryant University.
