Bridgton Academy defender Patrick Pires (Pawtucket, R.I.) is heading to the Windy City for college soccer, drawn by the chance to compete for a familiar face.

The Class of 2021 standout has committed to Chicago State for next fall, reuniting him with head coach Trevor Banks. Before joining the Cougars last July, Banks was the technical director for Bruno United and the associate head coach at Brown University.

Banks' project was a major draw as Pires searched for a Division I home. They’ll help write history, as Banks is tasked with building the program from the ground up after Chicago State went over 30 years without men’s soccer.
