A NESCAC season looks increasingly unrealistic, with news dropping Wednesday that Wesleyan won’t play games in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cardinals’ announcement makes it four NESCACs – Amherst, Bowdoin and Williams are the others – sitting out the fall, joining four NEWMACs and UMass Boston as Division III schools making similar decisions.
The decision was expected, men’s head coach Geoff Wheeler said, but that doesn’t detract from the raw emotions. They saw Spring 2020 athletics cancelled back in March, and hope ringed true for months.
