When members of the Bowdoin men’s soccer team gathered on a Zoom conference call earlier this week, head coach Scott Wiercinski said it felt more like a funeral or wake than teammates gathering.
That solemn mood emerged after Bowdoin’s announcement Monday that fall sports won’t take place at the Division III school due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The door was left open for fall student-athletes competing after Jan. 1, but that’s no guarantee.
