After missing out on having a fall season in 2020, Division 2 college soccer teams are back in full force and in their rightful spot on the yearly sports calendar.
The 2021 season will kick off for squads throughout New England this weekend, with conference titles and, ultimately, a national championship being the end goal.
Of course, it was the COVID-19 pandemic that wiped out the fall campaign a year ago. Some programs were able to put together a very limited, makeshift schedule last spring that was far from the real deal, while several other teams didn’t play at all and haven’t taken the field for a meaningful game in almost two years.
One program that hasn’t suited up for an official game since 2019 is Stonehill College. But the Skyhawks are still thinking big after a 2019 that saw them finish 12-5-4 and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
