During a normal MLS season, the New England Revolution and Philadelphia Union would play twice, maybe three times if they met in the U.S. Open Cup or MLS Cup Playoffs.
Nothing about the 2020 season is normal, though, and so the Revs and Union will square off for the sixth time Tuesday night (8 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Subaru Park in an Eastern Conference Round One matchup.
New England, the No. 8 seed, reached this stage by beating the Montreal Impact 2-1 Friday night at Gillette Stadium via a 95th-minute game-winning strike from Gustavo Bou. Meanwhile, the Union will have enjoyed 16 days of rest after clinching the Supporters’ Shield, their first trophy in club history, and are the East’s No. 1 seed.
