The biggest offseason storyline around Northfield Mount Hermon seemed to be what life after goalkeeper Maria Echezarreta Fernandez, a North Carolina State commit and Spain U-19 national teamer, would look like in 2020.
That still lingers, but a spotlight now centers around the program’s overall direction, with Lauren Aldred departing after one year as head coach and Peter Albright taking over.
The Hoggers, a Class A program that went 10-4-3 last year, are getting a coach who last led – and started – the University of Richmond women’s program from 1995-2017. Asked about shifting from Division 1 to the NEPSAC, Albright spoke to the academic emphasis, a nod to his Richmond teams earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for Excellence 21 times.
