Josh Plimpton, in some ways, grew up around Oakwood SC.

He joined the club around 5, his parents coached there and worked at the pro shop as a high schooler. Under the guidance of Rick Derella, Dave Farrell and Kevin Bacher, the South Glastonbury, Conn., native learned the game.

“I was around the club 24/7,” Plimpton said. “Even when I wasn’t playing, I was still around, working on my technique and parts of my game.”

Those roots have propelled Plimpton, an outside back and outside midfielder, to a key role at Iona.
