While the New England Revolution swept aside the LA Galaxy 4-1 on Wednesday night, head coach/sporting director Bruce Arena is avoiding broad-sweeping conclusions from the first two tests of their California preseason stay.
Even though the Revolution deployed a mix of first-choice players and reserves, the Galaxy are in rebuild mode under head coach Greg Vanney. Their lineups against New England mostly leaned upon MLS hopefuls rather than established veterans, with a few exceptions.
That sets the stage for a Saturday preseason test against LAFC (2 pm ET) that will be, as Arena noted during a midweek Zoom call, “much different.”
