New England connections abound among presidential candidates

When the next president of U.S. Soccer is elected in February, there is a strong chance that connections to New England will remain atop the federation.

The current president, Sunil Gulati, announced he is not running for reelection when his third term runs out. He grew up in Cheshire, Conn., helped to start MLS in his role as deputy commissioner (1996-1999) and served as managing director and president of Kraft Soccer Properties from 1999 through 2011.
