Consider it a trickle-down effect of the COVID-19 pandemic altering the recruiting landscape, as well as the NCAA granting fall student-athletes an extra year of eligibility. Looking to buy more time, Class of 2021 players are seeking out the PG experience – a fifth year or extra semester to strengthen their case and further develop.
It all occurs amid a recruiting world where the Division I recruiting dead period lasts through April 15 and the NESCAC (Division III) has its own indefinite recruiting dead period.
