For Berkshire Academy, the territory was somewhat uncharted.
Two years ago, the Bears made the NEPSAC tournament for the first time in years, losing a quarterfinal on the road at Suffield.
This fall, behind their two senior stars -- Vivian Akyirem and Chioma Okafor -- they put together an 11-4-1 season, good for the No. 2 seed in the Class B tournament and a home game Wednesday against seventh-seeded Middlesex.
When the visitors equalized before halftime of that game, the Bears were at a crossroads.
