Paul Keegan couldn’t have imagined better timing for the first goal of his New England Revolution career.
When Keegan converted during a 2-0 win over the New York/New Jersey MetroStars at Foxboro Stadium on May 19, 1996, the crowd included family and friends from Dublin, Ireland. The next day, Keegan participated in graduation ceremonies at Boston College, which was the original purpose his family’s visit.
