For the first time since departing the MLS is Back Tournament in late July, the New England Revolution have time to catch their breath.
The COVID-19 pandemic meant the club squeezed in 18 matches across 81 days between late August and early November, a grueling stretch of regionalized competition as the league embarked on a 23-game regular season (normally 34).
But it’s not exactly rest time, especially with playoff soccer on the horizon. New England, the Eastern Conference’s No. 8 seed, will host the No. 9 Montreal Impact on Nov. 20 for a Play-In Round Match, marking its second straight postseason trip after previously being absent from 2016-18.
