When the COVID-19 pandemic intensified in mid-March, it coincided with spring break for most prep schools across New England.
For international players, that period in an academic calendar means either flying back home or staying in the United States with a host family until classes resume. But this year, a quick trip to see family and friends turned into closed campuses during a public-health crisis and remote learning.
Now, as the 2019-20 school year winds down and schools possibly reopen, questions linger about NEPSAC international players being available for selection. Borders are currently closed, and new internationals face backlogged embassy appointments for student visas. If the 2020 season were to begin today, many international game-changers couldn't factor in.
