MAAC becomes latest D1 conference to cancel: “I wasn’t terribly stunned”

The prolonged contraction of Division I soccer across New England continued Monday, as the MAAC cancelled fall sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision ensures that 14 of 23 teams (16 if you’re counting the Atlantic 10) won’t compete this fall, and comes nearly one month after the MAAC announced modified schedule plans that ultimately were deemed not feasible.

The 11-member conference includes Connecticut-based programs Fairfield and Quinnipiac, and follows similar calls from the Ivy League, Patriot League, America East and CAA. The chips keep on falling.
