The Ivy League won’t have any sports during Fall 2020, ensuring that the Division I conference's normal soccer season is cancelled.
The decision, formalized Wednesday on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, could still allow for competitive spring soccer of some kind. That’s not guaranteed, however, as logistical challenges would be unavoidable and health issues could still persist.
Players can practice in accordance with school and state regulations, and fall student-athletes won't use a season of Ivy League or NCAA eligibility, whether or not they enroll. Ivies traditionally don't allow fifth-year players to compete, though waivers could be granted on a select basis.
