It’s here! October 2018 edition of New England Soccer Journal

By NESJ StaffOctober 2, 2018

Navigating the college recruiting process is often a difficult task. Divisions 1, 2 and 3 all present their unique benefits and challenges, financial constraints can complicate matters and the importance of academics can’t be stressed enough.

Those are all lessons Phillips Exeter standout Tyler Swanbeck (Hebron, Maine) has learned first-hand over the past year. The reigning United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Player of the Year, the 18-year-old is chasing a college scholarship as a postgraduate student. For this month’s cover story, we go in-depth with the former Hebron star.

In our October 2018 magazine, we also caught up with Boston Bolts goalkeeper Marzuq Puckerin (Cambridge, Mass.). With an impressive family lineage, the 15-year-old has professional hopes and MLS academies swarming. Those aren’t far-off dreams, either, considering he’s part of the U.S. U-17 national team.

This month’s prep girls feature catches up with Nina and Porter Dooley (Hamilton, Mass.), twins who are the undisputed leaders of Pingree. The Class B program has serious title hopes with these Northeastern commits in the fold. They’ve also long impressed with FC Stars in the Elite Clubs National League.

We also take our normal swing around the region’s college programs. In D1 men’s, Vermont’s striker duo of Geo Alves and Justin Freitas (North Attleboro, Mass.) take center stage, while the D1 women’s story profiles Providence goalkeeper Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.).

Stories from the magazine will be posted throughout the month, but you can view the magazine in its entirety by subscribing today.
