Last year, Dan Calichman, an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer, had a catch-up coffee with former San Jose Earthquakes player Khari Stephenson, when the Galaxy ventured north for another edition of the California Clásico.
Calichman, who played for the Galaxy and Earthquakes, as well as the New England Revolution during his MLS career, and Stephenson, who spent most of his MLS time in San Jose, in addition to stints in Sweden and Norway. while earning 32 caps for Jamaica, never played together.
Their connection is different. Years apart, they attended Massachusetts-based Williams College, a Division 3 NESCAC member, and are part of a tight-knit family.
