Over the last few months, several landmark dates have affirmed the New England Revolution’s launch of Revolution II, their USL League One team that opens March 28 at Gillette Stadium against Orlando City B.
All in 2019, the team was officially announced on Oct. 9, after reports first surfaced over the summer. Then, Clint Peay was hired as head coach on Dec. 1. You could even stretch matters back to May 14 when Bruce Arena was hired as sporting director and first-team head coach, or June 2 when Curt Onalfo (Ridgefield, Conn.) joined as technical director.
The next date is etched in stone, as Tuesday produced the first four signings in Revolution II history: defender Nick Woodruff (Attleboro, Mass.), midfielder Mayele Malango, forward Connor Presley and defender Collin Verfurth. Consider it another pivotal moment in a long-term project.
