One of the frequent questions I’m asked as a club and college coach is “are ID clinics worth it?” My response is always the same: It depends.
In the old days, kids (or their parents) would spend $700 to attend four-day overnight camps. While the experience of getting to know the staff and becoming familiar with the campus can prove invaluable, one-day clinics at $100 to $150 each give you the opportunity to see five schools for the same price — usually in a more intimate setting with fewer players. Quite often, you’ll attend the one-day camps with players who are already committed, or would like to be committed, to the school, which gives you and the coaching staff the opportunity to see how you compare.
