Game intelligence, soccer IQ and soccer smarts are all great phrases, but what are they and more importantly can they be taught? The very simple answer is yes…and it is always nice when an answer is backed by science, university research, military training, medical institutions, space programs and government agencies. But you’re asking yourself where does “game intelligence” in soccer fit into all this academic, serious-sounding conversation?

Well, that is where the Soccer IntelliGym comes in.

Let’s start by saying this type of training was not developed for sports, but rather for fighter pilots for one of the premier military units in the world: the Israeli Air Force. Then the training was brought to the U.S. Air Force to further study and prove effectiveness. Pilots flying $250 million-dollar jets in battle need every advantage, every split-second decision edge they can get for high-speed situations. The training occurs in cockpit simulation modules that focus in real-time on increasing the pilot’s awareness of space around them, attention to maximum detail and final decision-making.

Fast forward 10 years and many of the same researchers, computer engineers and fighter pilots asked themselves a question. What if we develop the same software used for pilot training and apply it to sports? Their many focus was soccer and hockey, all to improve players’ in-game awareness and attention to game detail, which leads to superior decision-making skills.

Boom – IntelliGym was born!

This type of training, while completed on a desktop or laptop, is software-based, it’s not a video game. Just like lifting weights, running, watching game film, practice and games, they all serve a purpose in overall player development. If all these skills work together and fire on all cylinders, then a player’s performance level improves. The player is also making those advances to take their game to the next level.

You need to workout your brain, then run it through exercises to enhance its learning power. The power is there and the brain is waiting to be challenged. But until recently, the scientific platform to do so wasn’t available outside of the military and medical research.

Many people will say this type of sports training cannot be accomplished and that it’s made up. However, they are wrong. Cognitive “brain training” is a thing and it’s all about repeated practice and dedication! Besides the Air Forces, the technology is proven by studies from NASA, DARPA, University of Delaware, University of Amsterdam, Cologne Sports University and The Mayo Clinic.

We also have consumers ask why three of the most successful hockey organizations in North America – USA Hockey, Minnesota Hockey and OMHA Canada – have used IntelliGym as part of player development for over 12 years. They then won more world and regional championships than the 25-plus years before they used IntelliGym.

Click here for some science-based research about the studies and results if you’re still wrapping your head around all this new thinking.

Now, it’s soccer’s turn!

IntelliGym’s interactive soccer training is new to the United States. Over 100 major clubs and thousands of players in Europe and Asia use IntelliGym. In 2019, IntelliGym started rolling out the training platform and recently registered top organizations. They include the Dallas Texans, Saint Louis FC, Scott Gallagher Soccer and Asphalt Green – NYC. We are just getting started and could not be more excited to bring the Soccer IntelliGym to New England and New York.

We’ve made IntelliGym very affordable (even a money back guarantee). It only takes an hour a week and you can train at home, track results, see results in six weeks verified through the software. You’ll train in out of season, plus see increased awareness and attention in other things you do during your day-to-day life.

Think faster. Play better.
