Every day brings another data point in the constant evaluation of Justin Rennicks.

This is the life the South Hamilton, Mass., native chose when he opted to pursue a professional career in soccer and signed with his hometown New England Revolution. It is how this 20-year-old forward functions from session to session and sets his course toward the future. His success — playing time or reserve time, international call-up or omission — hinges on how he performs on a daily basis.

At the crux of this life is an acknowledgement of how the promising U.S. youth international forward started along this path.

This origin story does not include initial thoughts of a place with the Revolution or a potential trip to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in May and June. There was just a father looking at his son out on a field in a small Massachusetts town and wondering what sport made the most sense for him.
