On May 13, Bruce Arena was in Los Angeles, his time as an unemployed coach about to conclude. Just south of the border, Gustavo Bou was wrapping up a stint as leading scorer at Liga MX side Club Tijuana.
Two months later, Arena and Bou are teaming to engineer the transformation of the New England Revolution.
In his first two months as sporting director/head coach, Arena returned the Revolution to Eastern Conference playoff contention. But Arena believed he needed a proven scorer for the Revolution to move to another level. And the 29-year-old Argentine could provide the attacking qualities the team needs, judging by his debut in a 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps last Wednesday.
