When the Brooks School girls traveled to Thayer Academy on Oct. 4, an Independent School League battle between two unbeatens, not only hadn’t they lost a game all season, they also hadn’t allowed a goal.
It followed an eye-opening September for a group that had graduated a key crop of defenders, and would be relying on, among other things, a pair of sophomores at center back.
But the early returns weren’t just encouraging. They were stellar.
"They’re making my job easier this year," said senior standout goalie Lana Gibbs, earlier this month. "We’re four games in and I think I’ve had the least amount of saves in my four years at Brooks."
