BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. -- For U-16 players, the timing is perfect and the opportunity is huge.
Thursday marked Day 1 of the Girls Academy Spring Showcase, a five-day national event for GA teams at the U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-19 levels. The showcase is being held at the sprawling Bryan Park Soccer Complex, just outside of Greensboro.
It just so happens that this major national competition is being held just two months before college coaches can start conducting off-campus communication and extend verbal offers to rising high school juniors. That official date is June 15.
