Gianna Peracchio wasn’t sure when she’d make her NEPSAC debut at this time last year.
The Choate Rosemary Hall underclassmen tore her ACL in early 2021 and underwent reconstructive surgery a day after her 15th birthday in February. After missing out on NEPSAC play as a freshman due to COVID-19, Peracchio found herself in danger of waiting even longer to suit up for the Wild Boars.
So when Peracchio made her first slide tackle in Choate’s season opener on Sept. 18, it was a special moment for her.
“It was awesome,” Peracchio said. “I actually got cleared to do full contact two days prior to my first game. Being able to go to my first game and actually tackling someone was amazing, I was like, ‘Wow, this feels normal again.’”
